Swordtember 3: Glade Dancer
Grab yourself a bit of the magic of the summer court, and move like a dragonfly in june.
Day 3 of Swordtember! I am having a heck of a lot of fun with this challenge. The prompt for today was “Insect-like“ (though I’m unclear why it wasn’t just “insect“) and I wanted to do something a little fairy-inspired. I’m also not quite ready to give up summer yet, and so drawing something dragonfly-esque seemed fun.
Glade Dancer
Weapon (Shortsword), Uncommon (requires attunement)
This shortsword grants a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls. While you are attuned to the Glade Dancer you can cause the wings to thrum into motion or cease moving as an object interaction. While the wings are moving, you exert less than a pound of force on the ground below you. You can walk across liquid surfaces, and Wisdom checks to find tracks you leave behind are made with a -10 penalty.
So long as you are not underwater, you can use a bonus action to cause the wings on the blade to flap with a much greater force. The lift generated from the wings pulls you up to 15 feet in any direction of your choice, including vertically. This movement does not provoke opportunity attacks.
Additionally, while the shortsword is in your hand, at any point during a fall you may use your reaction to cast Feather Fall, targeting only yourself.
